Ingredients and Steps
Big text, no distractions — for the stoveIngredients
- Beef
- Peanuts
- Ginger
- Garlic
- Cayenne pepper
- Paprika
- Onion
- Vegetable oil
Steps
- 1Slice beef thinly against the grain into long, even strips.
- 2Thread the strips onto skewers, weaving them slightly so they stay secure.
- 3Toast peanuts in a dry pan until fragrant, then grind them finely and combine with ground ginger, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, and a pinch of salt to make the dry yaji spice mix.
- 4Brush the skewered meat lightly with oil, then coat it generously and evenly with the yaji spice mix, pressing it onto the surface.
- 5Grill the skewers over an open flame or hot grill, turning frequently, for about 8 to 10 minutes, until the meat chars nicely outside and cooks through.
- 6Brush with a little more oil partway through grilling to help the spice crust stay on.
- 7Slice raw onion and tomato and arrange them alongside the finished skewers.
- 8Sprinkle a little extra yaji over the top and serve hot.
